Shockwave

Delivers high-energy acoustic sound waves to injured soft tissues or bones to stimulate the body's natural healing process.

What is shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy, also called extracorporeal shockwave therapy or ESWT, is a non-invasive treatment for chronic musculoskeletal conditions. It uses high-energy acoustic sound waves directed at the tissue that is causing trouble.

It works by boosting blood flow to the area and encouraging tissue regeneration. That combination is what makes it worth considering for problems that have hung around and have not settled on their own.

What the waves do

Increased blood flow

The sound waves raise circulation to the area being treated, which is often the thing chronic injuries are short of.

Tissue regeneration

The same energy encourages the tissue to rebuild, so the work happens through your body rather than around it.

Non-invasive

Nothing is cut and nothing is injected. The applicator works from the surface of the skin.

Whether shockwave is the right choice depends on what is going on and how long it has been going on. Dr. Smith will tell you if something else would serve you better.
